Well to summarize 2009 at Hope Hill Farm I would have to say it was sweet and it was bitter. This past year was filled with first times for us. It was a first time for our farm to take a Grand and Reserve Grand Champion win. The Reserve win was with a doe in our herd name, Hope Hill Farm's 2nd Hand Serenade. We also have a super wether, Hope Hill Farm's Momma's Boy, which has done very well in the show ring taking 7 Best Wether awards. Our plans are to go to the 2010 National convention and stand him for the National Wether competition. We are probably just dreaming but it will be fun none the less. Definitely another first for us in 2010. The farms final kid count for 2009 was 4 does and 5 bucks. They were all healthy and happy. During 2009, we hosted our first NPGA show which was an overall success and everyone seem to have a great time.
Now for the bitter. Hope Hill Farm's Grand Opening was a buck, the only buck, we have ever kept at our farm which we raised. He was developing nicely and at his first show in 2009 he had taken 2 Junior Champion and 1 Reserve Junior Champion awards. We had high hopes for him in the show ring which were cut short in August 2009 when our boy came down with pneumonia and went over the rainbow bridge. It broke our hearts. He was such a sweet boy just entering his prime. We also lost one of the first does we purchased here at the farm, Maggidan's Mini's Serenade. She gave us some really nice kids. She crossed over the rainbow bridge in December due to an aggressive cancerous tumor. Both of these animals will be greatly missed.
Well that about sums it up. We are looking forward to 2010 and all the memories it will bring.
